Reliance Jio – which is currently testing its

network – is expected to do a commercial

launch of its network in the ‘coming months’,

according to Mukesh Ambani, Reliance

Industries Limited Chairman. Ambani is said

to have recently met Telecom Secretary JS

Deepak to discuss rollout plans for Reliance

Jio, which has accused incumbent players of

not releasing sufficient interconnection ports

during its test run of services.

  • how to register a jio 4G service

Reliance Jio had also launched a website Jio.com for

registration purposes and for people to get to know

more about LTE network from Reliance.

Clicking on ‘learn more’ on Connect’s main page will

lead you to a form asking you to register interest.

Reliance has not yet confirmed if anyone from the

company will be getting back to the individual for more

information about the process.

Unfortunately, there is no other shortcut to get a Jio sim

card other than registration on website or an invite from

a Reliance employee. A beta launch also doesn’t

guarantee a sim card after registration, since only a few

will be selected from bigger cities.

Full commercial launch is expected to be by the end of

this year, and we think a lot of potential users will

switch to another network by then. The delay is nerve-

racking and we hope Reliance Jio takes it very seriously

before announcing another mini-launch.
